Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs beat the Giants 22-9 for their first win this season

The Kansas City Chiefs secured their first win of the season by defeating the New York Giants 22-9.

Despite early mistakes and penalties, including some by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs managed to turn the game around. Mahomes completed 22 of 37 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown, as well as making a crucial ball recovery.

His notable performance helped in setting up a key touchdown run by Kareem Hunt, sealing the victory. This win prevented the Chiefs from starting 0-3 for the first time since 2011.

The Giants, who fell to 0-3, struggled offensively with quarterback Russell Wilson throwing two interceptions and completing only 18 of 32 passes for 160 yards. Fans expressed their frustration, chanting for rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, who saw limited action without any pass attempts.

The Giants converted just once on 10 third-down tries, leading to dissatisfaction from their coach, Brian Daboll.Chiefs’ Mahomes, who recently turned 30, ran less in this game compared to the previous ones, with Isiah Pacheco leading the team in rushing with 45 yards.

Giants rookie Cam Skattebo performed well, scoring a touchdown and accumulating 121 yards from scrimmage, sharing the workload with Devin Singletary after an injury to Tyrone Tracy.

Malik Nabers of the Giants was heavily covered by the Chiefs, limiting him to two catches for 13 yards. Chiefs’ defensive strategy also effectively limited big performances from previous opponents’ receivers.

Injuries included Chiefs’ safety Bryan Cook, who injured his neck but was reported fine, and receiver Xavier Worthy, who missed his second game due to a shoulder injury.
